Zoom Whitening

Dentistry For Children, P.C. is pleased to offer Philips Zoom White Speed, the No.1 patient-requested professional whitening brand, which is clinically proven to whiten teeth up to eight shades in 45 minutes. Making use of Zoom WhiteSpeeds advanced blue LED light activated technology, we are now able to achieve instant dramatic whitening results for our patients in just one office visit.

There are numerous treatments available for patients who wish to whiten their teeth and many can offer results similar to Zoom whitening. We are happy to discuss all options available including over the counter whitening solutions. However, professional tooth whitening overseen by the Philips certified dental professionals at Dentistry For Children, P.C. will ensure that the best solution is chosen for you and your teenager.

Who is a good candidate for Zoom tooth whitening?

Zoom is appropriate for most patients over the age of 13 who are in good dental health. However, to ensure that the treatment will be effective, we recommend a consultation with one of our Doctors who will provide a thorough examination and determine an ideal means of whitening.

Whitening is not recommended for patients who have the following:

– Infrequent visits to their dentist
– Gingivitis, gum recession or periodontal disease
– Highly sensitive teeth
– Multiple white fillings and/or crowns on the front teeth
– Certain kinds of staining (gray staining/discoloration because of trauma)
– Patients who are photophobic or who are taking photosensitive medications

What can we expect at our Zoom Whitening Appointment?

For patients interested in whitening, we do require an initial complimentary consultation which should last 20-30 minutes. At this appointment we will review the treatment, discuss the extent of whitening you can expect, and do an examination to ensure that you are a good candidate for whitening.

The whitening appointment is scheduled for 90 minutes. At the appointment, we will take photos, clean all teeth and place a special barrier over the gums to help prevent the whitening gel from irritating them. For most patients, the actual Zoom whitening process takes 45 minutes, with light breaks every 15 minutes to replenish the whitening gel.

We provide all our patients with custom at home tray-liners. These trays can be filled with special gels to help cut down on sensitivity, and also for additional at-home whitening. Teeth whitened by Zoom Whitening will continue to whiten for several days following the in-office treatment.

After whitening, patients will need to avoid eating any foods for one week that can potentially stain your teeth (eg. coffee, red wine, dark berries and colas or teas)
